Blog: Winter 2025/6 Updates

It’s been a long and cold winter but that hasn’t prevented us from Spreading Joy around the world!  Here’s what has been happening over the past few months:

We started the year off strong in Cambodia with 2 teams completing our first 5 houses of 2026. If you are interested in leading a team or sponsoring a project, we’d love to talk!  We are also now recruiting volunteers for teams in October and November. 🏠🇰🇭

Life in Upper Mustang is extremely challenging during the winter. Heavy snowfall is common, ground transportation is limited and freezing temperatures make it impossible for people to safely walk to the Namgon Drophen Sorig Clinic. To overcome these obstacles, our amichis bring medical care to people living in remote villages on a monthly basis. During the past three months, in addition to treating 220 people in the clinic, more than 165 people received medical care during these “field visits”. 🏥🇳🇵

You’ve heard a lot lately about our progress in Malawi with growing corn and raising chickens. And while that is the key to our work, it’s really just the means to the end. The real impact we are making is with the kids in Love in Action Malawi’s afterschool program!  Moving forward you’ll be seeing on our blog and social media more Student Success Stories.  Check out Emelda’s Journey here. 🐓 🌽 🇲🇼

Construction is ready to begin in Rwanda!  Our volunteers are packing their bags and will be there to assist in the construction of the new Shyorongi Community Center in March. It’s a multi-year project that aims to establish an Early Child Development center, a community library, a skills training center for youth and women, and a community gathering space.  Look for updates on JJoy’s social media channels soon! 📚 🇷🇼

Sometimes the work isn’t glamorous but necessary. With your support, JJoy has met a critical need at the Volunteer Building Cambodia Community Center. We’ve recently installed a fence which creates a more welcoming space for classes and activities and ensures that precious learning materials remain secure. 📚 🇰🇭

Over the last quarter we were honored to have been joined by two new recurring donors and to receive an increased gift from an existing monthly donor. Recurring gifts allow JJoy to respond quickly in emergencies and to provide continuous support to our partners. A BIG thank you to all of our monthly, annual and recurring donors!

JJoy Foundation’s Facebook page is approaching a milestone. Will you help us reach 500 followers? Invite your friends to like our page so we can grow our community and spread even more Joy together!

And last but not least…Happy 50th Birthday Mr Sinn!

“A secure home is more than shelter—it is the foundation for hope, education, and opportunity.” — Sinn, Founder of VBC

February 18 was the big day – but it’s just the start of VBC’s yearlong campaign to celebrate Sinn’s dedication to helping his community. For this milestone birthday, Sinn is fundraising to build 10 safe homes equipped with sanitary latrines, clean water systems, solar power and essential household items.  Learn more about Sinn’s Story on our campaign page here.

THANK YOU for being a part of this JJoy Community. Without you, this work would not be possible.
