Learn more about INEZA:

JJoy Foundation is excited to partner with INEZA Foundation (INEZA), a non-governmental, volunteer run non-profit organization that has been operating in Rwanda since 2014. Ineza Foundation believes every child, youth, and woman can live in a supportive, vibrant, literate and healthy community. In order to transform lives and achieve this ambitious vision, INEZA focuses on providing learning opportunities in three distinct areas:

LITERACY AND EDUCATION:  INEZA strives to promote a culture where reading and writing are used not just for practical purposes, but as an expression of the imagination for all those eager to sharpen their minds and grow. INEZA works to establish Community Libraries and Children’s Reading Corners throughout Rwanda and provides both physical and digital resources to promote the learning journey.  They also offer librarian training, outreach events such as reading competitions, camps and clubs, and training of early childhood development caregivers with literacy management skills.

HEALTH: INEZA works to support the well-being of women and children by offering maternal and reproductive health seminars, distributing recyclable sanitary products and providing vulnerable families with healthcare.  They also focus on keeping children healthy through nutritional support including seminars, kitchen garden installation, and the provisioning of domestic animals to increase family’s protein intake and provide manure to boost crop production.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT: INEZA empowers women and youth through training sessions for skills development.  They also support income generating activities and job creation through social enterprise initiatives and savings groups.  This hands on skills open doors to employment.

INEZA utilizes a holistic approach which co-locates a library with a community early childhood development center and capacity building platforms for women.  By providing a range of services, they foster ownership, self-reliance, involvement and participation of the entire  community.

Current Fundraiser

One of INEZA’s primary goals is to establish new libraries and to distribute books to existing libraries throughout Rwanda. Taking a unique, holistic approach, libraries are intentionally co-located with early childhood development centers and women’s capacity building platforms. Consolidating this range of services fosters the involvement and participation of the entire community. We invite you to join us in encouraging creativity, imagination and critical thinking in everyday life by bringing the joy of reading to communities in Rwanda.

We fundraise throughout the year in order to keep libraries supplied with quality reading materials and spread the joy of reading around Rwanda. For every $1,000 we raise, we will be able to purchase approximately 500 books written in the local Kinyarwandan language. Reading in a local language can unlock a world of learning and curiosity for underserved youth and adults alike. We appreciate your support!
