At just 15 years old and in the 7th grade, Emelda’s determination shines brightly despite the challenges she faces. Growing up in a household where poverty is overwhelming, daily life has never been easy for her or her family. Yet, Emelda’s story is not defined by hardship, but by hope and transformation.
The Role of Love in Action
For Emelda, the Love in Action afterschool and feeding program has been a lifeline. This program does more than provide a safe and nurturing environment after school—it is a reliable answer to her nutritional needs, ensuring she receives healthy meals that fuel her body and mind. The academic support she receives at Love in Action has also helped her catch up and excel in her studies, making her educational journey possible.

The JJoy Foundation’s unwavering support has enabled Love in Action to expand its impact. By helping to grow corn and raise chickens for meat, JJoy ensures that nutritious meals reach students like Emelda. For her, these meals are more than food—they are a symbol of care and opportunity, a chance to focus on her studies without worrying about hunger.
