From Grade Four to University: The Transformative Power of Community Support
Before: Overcoming Barriers
In 2017, Nancy was a determined young girl in grade four, facing numerous challenges common to children in her community. Access to consistent nutrition and academic support was limited, and her dreams of pursuing further education seemed distant. Nancy joined Love in Action’s Afterschool and Feeding Program with hope in her heart, but uncertainty about her future.
Now: A Future Full of Promise
Thanks to holistic support provided by Love in Action, with generous backing from partners like JJoy Foundation, Nancy’s life began to change. The afterschool program offered her a safe and supportive environment to study, while the feeding program ensured she received daily nutritious meals essential for learning and growth.
With her basic needs taken care of, Nancy excelled academically and developed a passion for agriculture and teaching. In January 2026, Nancy is 17 and set to begin her studies at the University of Livingstonia, where she will train to become a secondary school Agriculture teacher.
Nancy’s journey is a powerful example of the transformative impact that targeted educational and nutritional support can have on an individual’s life.
