Cambodia Family Transformation
JJoy-VBC Project ID044: Kloeum, Heth and Saroth
Sponsored and Built by Anonymous JJoy Donor-Volunteers
Construction: December 2025
In December 2025, JJoy Foundation initiated a project with our partner Volunteer Building Cambodia to provide a family with a safe home, sanitary latrine, clean water system and solar power. This project was generously funded by donations from JJoy’s volunteer team VBC-251123-CP.
Let’s meet the family!
Kloeum (72) and his wife Heth (52) live with their mentally disabled daughter Saroth (27). Kloeum works as a construction day laborer when he can, but his ability to work is limited by a medical condition (gout). Heth takes care of her daughter and manages the family’s rice farm.
Kloeum is the father of eight children, six of whom live in distant locations. The two children living nearby are also in poor condition and facing financial difficulties. He received no support when his old house collapsed in a strong wind storm on 16 April 2025. The old house measured 2m x 3m on a plot of 10m x 20m, was covered with thatch and old palm leaves, and was supported by bamboo posts.
We are excited to see this family with improved living conditions and wish them all the best!
