JJoy-VBC Project ID0030: Sarm, Noy and Lyka

Sponsored and Built by Volunteers on VBC-250505-TV

Construction: May 2025

In May 2025, JJoy Foundation initiated a project with our partner Volunteer Building Cambodia to provide a family with a health home, a sanitary latrine, a clean water system and solar power. This project was generously funded by donations from JJoy’s volunteer team VBC-250505-TV.

Let’s meet the family!

Sarm and Noy live with their 4 year old daughter on the outskirts of Siem Reap.  Sarm is a casava farmhand and earns $50 to support his family.  Noy has no education and stays home to take care of their daughter.

This sweet young couple worked side by side with volunteers to construct their new home and toilet.  Their excitement was evident in every smile!

Welcome home!

6 Month Update: November 2025

In their new home, this family experiences a sense of security previously unknown to them.  They are safe even against the harshest storms and their daughter is being raised in a healthy atompshere.

Sarm continues to work as a construction worker.  Because of his increased confidence and improved health, he has been able to significantly increase his earnings to around $180 per month. Noy continues to care for her daughter and is growing vegetables at home for the family to consume.

The family is deeply thankful for the kindness and support that made this home possible. They envision a future of new possibilities and the gift means so much to them.

“We never expected to get a new house because our income is not enough for the family. We will never forget the faces of the donors and volunteers who made this amazing effort possible.”
