Cambodia Family Transformation

JJoy-VBC Project ID0029: Reaksa, Chen and Seyha

Sponsored and Built by Volunteers on VBC-250505-TV

Construction: May 2025

In May 2025, JJoy Foundation initiated a project with our partner Volunteer Building Cambodia to provide a family with a health home, a sanitary latrine, a clean water system and solar power. This project was generously funded by donations from JJoy’s volunteer team VBC-250505-TV.

Let’s meet the family!

Reaksa and Chen live on the outskirts of Siem Reap with their 19 year old son Seyha.  Reaksa works in construction earning $5 per day for his family.  Last year, Chen fell from a small truck while working at a casava farm and is no longer able to work.  She stays home to take care of herself. Their son is studying in Grade 9.

This family worked side by side with the team every day, on a mission to change their own future.  They never stopped smiling!

Welcome home!

6 Month Update: November 2025

After living in their new home for 6 months, the family is transformed.

The security and comfort of their new home has allowed Chen to rest and fully recover from her previous back injury.  She has returned to work and now earns $8 per day as a construction worker.  Combined with Reaksa’s income of $11 per day, the family now averages a monthly income of approximately $450.

Additionally, the latrine and clean water system provide the family with greatly improved hygiene and health.  They save money by using their solar panel for electricity.

The family expressed their gratitude:

“We hope to meet the volulnteers again in the future. We will never forget the faces of the donors and volunteers who made this amazing effort possible. We wish every donor and volunteer a good and long life, and great success in their countries. We are truly grateful to Jjoy Foundation for their kindness and support.”
