For the intrepid volunteer who joined JJoy’s first team last December, it was an experience like no other. The trip was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a real difference in an area where access to healthcare is limited.
“We got to see parts of the world most people never could”
Few visitors venture into the Upper Mustang region of Nepal. Those who do are rewarded with an exclusive look inside a culture that was completely closed to outsiders until 1992. In this remote area, Tibetan traditions are vibrant, and the quiet vastness of the mountains has a profound impact on the soul.
“It just opened my heart so much.”
Volunteering to support a team of local doctors providing free medical care in extremely isolated villages made a direct positive impact on patients. But this experience was also filled with unique opportunities for personal growth and reflection. As JJoy Volunteer Nancy explains, “We were so close to the people and they have such different lives than we do. I felt inspired by them and privileged to share in their space and in their community.”
Does this sound like your kind of adventure? You’re in luck! We’re heading back to Upper Mustang for Round 2.
