Your donation in support of VBC helps improve living conditions and provide new opportunities for rural Cambodians. Thank you!
Learn more about VBC:
JJoy Foundation is excited to partner with Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC), a locally run, community-driven organization focused on improving the living conditions of Cambodian families in need. VBC helps break the poverty cycle and supports families on their journeys to self-sufficiency. Their work is accomplished through their Construction Program and the VBC Community Center.
Home Construction: VBC builds sturdy, 2 room Khmer-style houses in rural areas in Siem Reap Province. The houses are 215 ft2 with concrete footings, wooden floors and a metal roof. A donation of $3000 will build an entire home.
Toilet Construction: VBC provides families with sanitary toilet facilities. Latrines are detached from the home and increase sanitation, reduce health risks and increase dignity. A donation of $320 will build a one room new toilet and $600 will build a two room outbuilding with separate spaces for the toilet and shower rooms.
Water Solutions: Many families living in rural areas collect water for drinking, cooking and bathing from sources contaminated with bacteria and pollutants. VBC installs wells which are economical to operate and maintain. They also provide Bio-Sand Water Filters which further improve drinking water quality. A donation of $335 will install a well and cover the cost of a water filter.
Solar Panel Installation: Solar panels reduce the amount spent on electricity, allowing families to use more of their income on other necessities. In homes with solar power, children study more and families are more secure. A donation of $260 will cover the cost of purchasing and installing a solar panel which powers 2 lights and one ceiling fan.
Education: VBC believes that education helps families achieve self-sufficiency. At the Volunteer Building Cambodia Community Center (VBCCC) students learn the English language and computer skills. Co-located with VBC’s warehouse, VBCCC also is used as a vocational training facility for basic building skills. Contact us if you are interested in supporting of volunteering at VBCCC.

Healthy Home Construction with Volunteer Building Cambodia
In December 2024, JJoy’s second volunteer team to Cambodia traveled to Siem Reap to improve the living conditions for families in need in rural areas. Working with our partner, Volunteer Building Cambodia, our team participated in the construction of two houses and two toilets. We also provided solar panels for electricity and clean water wells with bio-sand water filters to improve the quality of family’s drinking water! At the end of the week, the team celebrated with the new homeowners as they prepared to start the next chapter in their lives. Working side by side with a family offers a unique opportunity to more deeply understand the culture, community, and daily lives of these beneficiaries. And it’s fun too!
